A Word From the Author of the Ezine

When I first came across Neuro-Linguistic Programming, I had no idea what it was. At the time, I was looking for an institute that would certify me as a coach. I came across ITS (International Teaching Seminars) in London, the only institute that combines NLP with an ICF (International Coaching Federation) accredited coaching program.

I signed up with ITS (www.itsnlp.com) and started their NLP Practitioner in early 2003. Ian McDermott was a fantastic trainer and I really got hooked on NLP. Over the next 3 years I completed the NLP Coach Program (also with ITS) and the NLP Master Practitioner and NLP Trainer Program with NLPU (Robert Dilts, Judith Delozier, Suzi Smith) in Santa Cruz, CA, the birthplace of NLP. I highly recommed NLPU for any of you who are interested in becoming certified (www.nlpu.com).

Initially I was sceptical about what NLP was capable of, in terms of transforming and empowering people. I had been practising yoga meditation for many years and did not think that a "worldy" science like NLP could top that. My views started changing, however, when I saw how my fellow students (120 people) who were somewhat life weary and disillusioned (like the average person is these days), became charged with energy and enthusiasm over a period of 5 months (5 modules of 4 days, one module per month).

With every new technique we learned and every exercise we did, our negative self-images and limiting beliefs were peeled away, one layer at a time. The painful experiences of our lives were revisited and examined for the learning they provided, before they were healed and 'archived'. Our fears were unmasked as hidden protectors, that are working overtime to keep us safe from harm. Bit by bit, we got to know the deeper structure of our personality and saw, probably for the first time in our lives, what was driving our behaviors, our likes and dislikes, our ambitions and overall direction in life. It was a truly magical experience.

After the NLP Practitioner Program with ITS, I was sold on NLP. From there on I just kept going all the way to NLP Trainer certification. I still do yoga meditation, but I can now see that NLP has a very spiritual aspect to it as well. While meditation aims at stilling the mind, NLP works at harmonizing it. So NLP really is a great support for meditation, because a harmonious mind is easier to still. In my experience, NLP brings peace, joy and inner strength to those who practice it.

In my Ezine "NLP - The Secret Science of Self-Empowerment", I share with you for free all the aspects of NLP I have absorbed over the last years. It is a genuine joy for me to write this Ezine, mainly because it makes me feel I am sharing something very positive with others, something that has the potential to make a real difference in people's lives.
